Crooked Creek Art League thanks Palmetto Fine Arts (PFA) for generously providing a dedicated space for two of our artists to showcase their art among the great display of Fine Art in their gallery. You can see the current exhibit through the end of January 2025. Featured in the current exhibit with multiple pieces is CCAL artist Jean Baldwin. About the Artist
Jean Baldwin
I’ve been working in watercolor for 30 years. I like to work with a loaded brush on dry paper and I don’t try to totally control the flow of the paint and water. I like a watercolor painting to look watery.
I have been drawing in charcoal since I was a teenager. One of my favorite things to do is to sit outside and do a charcoal landscape.
I use both media to do still life, landscapes and portraits. I think I gravitate towards these media because they both seem so versatile, making it easy to get bold areas as well as light, airy areas.
I’ve tried other media but never found the freedom with them that I find in charcoal and watercolor.
