November 2021 Presenter: Michael Story
We invite you to join us at our meeting on Monday November 15, 2021 for some fun and fellowship! This is our regular monthly members meeting. We plan to again offer this as a hybrid in-person meeting with a simultaneous Zoom option for those uncomfortable or unable to meet in person. Watch for any updates as the Board may have to react with changes due to Covid related shifts. Hope to see you there - members and guests welcome!
For November, our presenter will be well known local artist:
M I C H A E L S T O R Y
Don't Be Afraid of the Darks
Crooked Creek Art League
Oil & Pastel Painting Discussion
November 15, 2021 / Meeting runs 6-8pm. Presentation will be approximately 6:30-7:30.
During this presentation, Lexington artist Michael Story will discuss his approach to his oil and pastel painting. Starting with a toned charcoal drawing as a guide to establishing the darks, Michael will explain his process of layering flat color to avoid over blending, and applying mid-tone and highlight color without losing your all important darks.
Michael will also explain his 5 keys to "Understanding How to Paint Reflections." This handout guide will be provided free to all attendees.
NOTE: We have made an adjustment to the time and location for our meetings due to a permanent change to earlier closing hours at Crooked Creek Park. Please be sure to make a note on your calendar and plan accordingly!
Refreshments/Social Time: 5pm-6pm
Meeting/Presentation: 6pm-8pm
To give us a little more space to spread out, we will meet in the FRONT meeting room adjacent to the kitchen (where our awards reception has been held in the past). This is the first room on the left after entering through the lobby.
In light of current high rates of infection and CDC guidelines, we request that everyone wear masks during the meeting except when eating. The Board will revisit this policy as the situation evolves or park policies change.
To keep the business meeting shorter, please review the information provided by our President regarding Board business activities and decisions prior to the meeting <Click HERE one week prior to the meeting>.
