Social Media Tips and Tricks for Artists
Rachel Parker Varner will present on a combination of topics regarding how to use technology to assist with all things art, from marketing, designing a painting, editing photos, finding and using online communities and art resources and more.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Rachel Parker Varner
Rachel Parker is an internationally collected watercolor artist. Her work has been showcased in both local and national magazines, including the cover of the American Veterinarian Association journal (twice). Her inspiration derives from making her subjects come alive through painting. Rachel works primarily in watercolor because she loves the sense of light this medium conveys. In all her paintings, she tries to make light a central theme. “Dramatic lighting can make a potato sack beautiful. Light is a life-giving force, and this is true in a painting as well – it breathes vitality and a sense of awe into the everyday,” says Rachel. As the daughter of an artist, she has always been immersed in the world of art and loves to share her passion with her patrons and the public through her website www.rachelsstudio.com. A reminder to our members:
Each month, we hold a new themed contest in the TAP Gallery. All CCAL members are invited to participate. Simply create your best piece according to the theme and bring it to hang on the start date listed below. (Be sure to bring your gallery wall label.) Only original works only are permitted in judged theme contests (no prints please). Exhibits typically change the same night as our monthly member meeting. Be sure to take home your artwork at the end of the exhibit!! A monthly Award Winner will be selected and awarded a ribbon for themed exhibits. Happy creating! In order to give our members more time to paint ahead for the TAP Gallery Exhibits, we will be trying to keep a yearly list of upcoming themes published in advance.
