Artist Bio
Ingrid Carson
Ingrid Carson has been a South Carolina resident since 1978 receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Columbia College in 1990. She double majored in drawing and photography but has since been recognized for her realistic oil paintings and abstract water media work.
Ingrid continues to attend national workshops focusing on expanding her abilities and knowledge of new media and innovative ideas for creating visual art. Ingrid’s quest for originality of thought and subject matter continues to surprise the viewer.
Her body of work is a visual diary of her life’s experiences, insights, and inspirations. The places she goes, the people she meets, and her thoughts are foundations for her art. She builds on that foundation with her knowledge of design: line, texture, value, and space. The execution of the artwork is a journey encompassing her feelings relating to the subject and the process of manipulating the medium.
She has exhibited and won awards in numerous shows including: Best of Show Seven Oaks Art League Annual Juried Exhibit; First Place Sandlapper Juried Art Exhibit; First Place Union County Arts Council Juried Art Exhibit; Sold Painted Violin at SC Philharmonic Painted Violin Fundraiser; Columbia Museum of Art; Florence Museum of Art; Burroughs and Chapin Museum of Art, Myrtle Beach, SC; SC State Fair; SC Watermedia Society Annual Exhibit; and Columbia Open Studio Tour.
Ingrid is a member and co-founder of the Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin, SC. She is also a Signature Status member of the South Carolina Watermedia Society. During her many years of working at the State Fair, Ingrid was awarded the South Carolina State Fair Spirit Achievement Award for Exemplary Service and Outstanding Contributions to the Arts resulting in two annual State Fair Ingrid Carson Merit Awards.
