A Message from Our President
Greetings to All Members:
I hope that you had a fun Halloween and that you did remember to set your clocks back one
hour.
Please join me in welcoming the following new members who joined the League in October:
Allyn Bedenbaugh, Kenneth Bell, and Melany Pavlick. Also, we welcome back all who rejoined or renewed. We are glad that all of you are part of Crooked Creek Art League. Hopefully, we will be able to meet one another in person in the not too distant future. If I have omitted someone, please let me know.
Membership Dues
A little over half of last year’s members have already renewed their membership. Remember
that you need to pay by December 31. Also, those entering the Still Hope Exhibit will need to be current on their dues. You may pay through the website, www.crookedcreekart.org, by
clicking on Join/Support, or you may send a check to Jean Kirkley, Membership Co-Chair, 315 Silver Wood Lane, Lexington, SC 29072. Since we credited all past members with one (1) meeting for the months we missed after February, anyone entering the 2021 Juried Art Show must be a Member in Good Standing which means that past members must attend at least two (2) of the Zoom meetings by February 2021.
Still Hopes Exhibit
The deadline for entering Still Hopes Exhibit is fast approaching – this Saturday, November 7. The residents and staff of Still Hopes community enjoyed our exhibit the past two years and are looking forward to this year. The prospectus and online registration information is on our website under Events/Calendar. Please read over the Prospectus before entering. This exhibit is online registration only. In order to facilitate your registration, you need to have the
measurements of your 1 or 2 pieces, a brief description as explained on the registration page, and a picture of each piece ready to download. Delivery of accepted artwork will be Saturday, December 5 from 10:00am- 12:00pm at the Park.
November Meeting
Mark your calendars for November 16, our next general meeting. You will be receiving an
email inviting you to participate in the Zoom meeting. You may enter the Zoom room at
6:45pm, and the meeting will begin at 7:00. [Join Zoom Meeting
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89404936824]. Our own Olga Yukhno, manager of USC’s
McMaster Gallery, will present the program by taking us on a tour of the gallery which will
feature the SVAD Alumni Exhibition and will also give us a glimpse into her personal studio.
Public Galleries
Good news! The Chapin Library is now ready to accept a CCAL artist display for the usual two-month display. The area is a glass fronted alcove and will accommodate quite a few pieces, depending upon the sizes. Interested? Contact Cathy Dubiel. We also need volunteers to display in our other Public Galleries for one-month (1 piece) or twomonth
(multiple pieces). Please consider this opportunity to let the public see your individual
works and to represent CCAL. If you willing to display, please contact Cathy Dubiel, Public
Galleries Coordinator at catherine.dubiel@yahoo.com.
Workshops
The Rob Shaw Palette Knife workshop was well attended. Thank you to all participants. I know you learned a great deal and hope you left with a completed painting. The next workshop will be Collage Landscapes with Julie Larkin on November 20-21 at
Crooked Creek Park. The two-day event will be face-to-face from 9:00am-1:00pm both Friday and Saturday. Participants will make their own collage papers on Friday and complete their landscape art on Saturday. On-line registration is open or you may contact Carol Blackwood, Workshop Coordinator, carolblackwood@yahoo.com.
2020 Juried Art Exhibit
Earlier this month, each member received a sponsor contact list. Please take a few minutes to look over the list and let Britty Pointer, Fund Raising Coordinator, (brittypointer@yahoo.com) know which past sponsors you would be able to contact.
I hope to see everyone on Zoom for the November 16 meeting. And. . . . If you did not vote
early or absentee, don’t forget to vote on Tuesday!
Stay safe and keep creating,
Sandra Oliver, President
