A Fresh New Year
Background Painting "Heading Home" by Ann Sweeney
We are all looking forward to the days when COVID is fully behind us and we can safely resume 'normal' life filled with friends and in-person events again. Just because we're not quite there yet, doesn't mean we don't have exciting things for our members and continued support for the arts in our community though!
Introducing #VirtualCCAL! We are excited as we move forward in our arts mission in spite of the pandemic. Your board has been meeting online and planning a lot of great things to share with you this year! In light of increased safety and social distancing guidelines, we are (for now) going digital. We're bringing online meetings with great presenters and programs straight to your home studio or sofa, so we can stay connected during these unprecedented times.
Throughout our virtual phase, we'll be providing new digital content regularly including online exhibition of member artwork, art conversations via Zoom, online workshops and online studio visits with our members.
We're kicking off the year with our first (virtual) general meeting. This meeting will be live on Zoom on September 21 (our normal third Monday of the month). The Zoom session will open at 6:45pm. Members will be able see each other and use the Chat feature to 'talk' to each other and to submit questions. The program will begin at 7pm and run for about an hour with a live Q&A session at the end. Important information for you from the Board will be shared prior to the meeting so we will be able to keep the business agenda short and sweet!
We have a number of great presenters lined up for this year's meetings already. We're excited to announce that at the September meeting, our first online presenter will be our very own multiple Best in Show winner, Tommy Thompson. This will be a chance to meet Tommy for those who haven't yet had that pleasure, get a personally guided tour of his wonderful studio and be treated to a painting demo where you can learn some great tips and tricks from his techniques.
To join the Zoom meeting you can use a computer, tablet, phone - anything with an Internet connection. Just click this link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81293054579. The Meeting ID number is #812 9305 4579. A reminder email will be sent out to members prior to the meeting with these connection details again.
Also, great news! Due to all the COVID related changes, the Board has approved temporarily reducing all membership dues for the 2020-21 membership year by 50%.
Your discount will be reflected on the final payment screen.
