Mural Dedication Ceremony: "The Art of Lake Life"

A wonderful crowd of people gathered on yet another wet and rainy day outside to celebrate the dedication of a wonderful new community artwork, "The Art of Lake Life" mural in the Crooked Creek Park Recreation Center. The Crooked Creek Art League, in conjunction with Crooked Creek Park and the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, were delighted to dedicate the new 37 foot long mural. Remarks were given by Crooked Creek Art League President Sandra Oliver, Crooked Creek Park Facility Manager Jason White and Nicholle Burroughs representing Chapin Mayor David W. Knight as part of the ceremony. Thank you to all who were able to attend the ceremony.
The mural was designed and painted by a dedicated team of eight CCAL artists using a custom design developed based on drawings made by 2019 Summer Safari children (ages 5 to 13) to answer the question of what they liked about living in Chapin.
Fun community activities are a component to the mural role out and the public is invited to participate in two different ways! First, we have designed a mural scavenger hunt where participants can answer a series of questions based on the detailed content of the mural. All completed scavenger hunt forms turned into the front desk will earn a small prize and be entered into a drawing mid-summer for 5 additional prizes of gift certificates for S&S Destination Trucky's. The public is also invited to add to the artwork by filling out their own throughts, comments, reactions, sketches, etc. and adding them to the "What does it mean to ME?" interactive participation wall.
