The Coffee Shelf Gallery Opens!
CCAL, in conjunction with The Coffee Shelf, is proud to announce the grand opening of "The Coffee Shelf Gallery". The gallery is located in the lobby of The Coffee Shelf at 130 Amicks Ferry Road in Chapin. It will host the artwork of two of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists on a two month rotation. The store owner, Jerry has been a longtime supporter of the arts in Chapin and we are thrilled to be working with him to showcase more art in town.

The initial display in the gallery showcases artwork by Alex DiFrancesco and Bebe Way.
Artist Bio: Alex DiFrancesco
A native of Bluefield, West Virginia, Alexandra (Alex) is a retired school guidance counselor. She has had the opportunity to live on both the East and West Coasts before moving to Chapin, South Carolina in 2016.
Alex has enjoyed photography since she was a child, playing with her parents Kodak Brownie camera. She enjoys photographing a variety of subjects which includes her grandchildren, but nature and architecture are her first loves.
She has been a member of Crooked Creek Art League for three years and as a member, she rediscovered her passion of photography. “I am surrounded by so many amazing artists and they inspire me.” Although just an amateur, Alex loves entering gallery shows and exhibits and considers them all a part of the learning experience. She has participated in the USC School of Visual Art and Design’s 64th Annual Art Auction, Crooked Creek Art League Annual Juried Show, Crooked Creek Art League Still Hopes Fall Juried Show, South Carolina State Fair, and shows her photography in local galleries. She currently serves on the board of CCAL as grant writer.

Artist Bio: Bebe Way
I studied art at Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson N.C. After teaching art to junior high students for five years in Kinston N.C., I married and moved to S.C. Eventually, I went to Piedmont Tech and obtained a degree in computer science. This degree along with my art background led me to become a computer graphic artist for Weisz Graphics which later became the Fred B. Johnston Company in Chapin S.C. After working there for 25 years, I retired.
After retirement, I rediscovered the joy of oil and acrylic painting. Being a member of Crooked Creek Art League has been very rewarding and has provided the opportunity for me to grow in this medium. I enter paintings in the Juried Crooked Creek Art League Show each year. I have entered the S.C. State Fair Art Exhibit where I have sold several paintings.
I like to mix and push paint around until an image emerges that is pleasing to me. Landscapes, animals, and flowers put me at peace. I pair finished with unfinished, detailed against no detail, strong color against soft color. Although I don't paint many abstracts, I really enjoy painting on the basis of the elements alone, not expecting something recognizable.
