The Crooked Creek Art League wants to shine a light on the vibrant arts community in Chapin and surrounding areas. Toward that end, CCAL has partnered with the Town of Chapin to promote the arts and the town. We have been an active part of the community since we were established in 1995 and hope to have the chance to give back to the town. The mayor's office agrees, saying "The Town of Chapin is delighted to have partnered with the Cooked Creek Art League on the exciting #SailintoChapin project. As a community we value the arts and have loved showcasing our talented artists in a fun and unique way. We welcome citizens from all over to visit our beautiful town and #DiscoverChapin."
In addition to playing along by participating in a Sailboat Scavenger Hunt, you can vote for your favorite in a People's Choice voting contest during the 2019 Chapin Labor Day Festival. This annual event, with over 20,000 participants, is the premier event in Chapin each year. It is a wonderful opportunity to show the vital role the arts play in a vibrant community. Artwork has been placed at strategic locations throughout the community including in front of the offices of business sponsors of the event.
The sailboats are public works of art located throughout town. They will remain in place through September. All sailboats will be sold through Silent Auction on Labor Day to help offset the cost of the project. Buy one for yourself or to donate to your favorite location so it can continue to beautify the town.
