“Beach Solace” was inspired by a plein air painting venture I took with my Mother shortly after my Father passed. We did a number of studio paintings of Dewees Island when we got back to the studio, but this abstracted beach landscape is one of my favorites.

About the Artist
Award winning artist Sonya Diimmler paints colorful South Carolina lake and landscapes along with her favorite subject and muse her Bulldog Smedley and her Boston Terrier Mattie. Having just started painting in 2015, Sonya fell in love with the process and quickly began a daily painting practice. She continually seeks to improve through frequent workshops and has studied with Mary Bentz Gilkerson and Michael Story. In 2016 she joined the Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin where she served first as Workshop Coordinator and then President.
Several years ago, Sonya left a 20 year career in legal administration, to return to her love of catering. She is co-owner of Diimmler’s Catering & Special Events with her husband David. When she is not catering, she can be found in her studio. Every day is an opportunity to create.
