"Brass Bowl with Fruit"
Artist Statement
“Brass Bowl with Fruit"
Oil on Canvas
Image size 12x16
Framed size 21x25
This painting is all about shapes, light, shadows and color. I love setting up various still life in my studio, and arranging the lights so that I can get the most interesting contrast between darks and lights. While working with this set up the reflection of the fruit in the brass bowl drew my interest. This painting was awarded “Best of Show” in one of the CCAL Exhibitions.

Artist Bio
A native of Lexington County, Faye gave up secretarial work in 1980 and began to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. She began studying art books and taking classes and workshops with well established artists. Today she is a self-taught, award-winning artist and has her own studio/gallery on Lake Murray where she resides with her husband.
Starting her studies in colored pencil, charcoal, and pastel helped to refine her drawing skills and as she progressed to working in oil, she fell in love with the forgiving nature of that medium. Now she works mainly in oil with a focus on creating realistic landscapes and still life. Most of her paintings are signed using her middle name “Delia” in memory of her mother.
See more of her work at “Palmetto Fine Arts” in Chapin, “The Gallery” in Newberry, “The Blend” in Prosperity and at her studio by appointment.
