BB&T Bank on Art Gallery - May 2018
CCAL, in conjunction with the BB&T, is proud to announce this month's artist on display in the "BB&T Bank on Art Gallery". The gallery is located in the lobby of the Chapin BB&T Branch and hosts the artwork of one of Crooked Creek Art League's fine artists. This month, the display in the gallery showcases artwork by Adriana Vidal. Adriana's piece "Lake Murray: A View from the Dam" is a mixed media painting.
"Lake Murray: A View from the DAM"
Artist Statement
This painting “Lake Murray: A View from the Dam” is a mixed media piece using watercolor pencils and ink. It has also been submitted into the SC Watermedia Society 2018 Digital Show. I drive across the dam quite often and just love some of the pictures the shape of the trees make against the water and sky. This piece is from a photo I took from a car window on the Bush River side of the dam.
Artist Bio
Adriana Vidal
Art and animals have always been part of my life but for years I only had time for the occasional doodle or commission. Currently I am working predominantly with watercolor and ink to create mixed media pieces focused on my love of nature with an eye to showcasing endangered species. I also create 3 dimensional shadow box pieces that are generally nature scenes but a developing interest in the Divine Feminine has led to a goddess series. In addition, I create hand bound journals, small polymer clay or paperclay sculptures, and small acrylic paintings. I am happy to do commissioned pieces; I specialize in painting Pet Portraits.
As an artist in Los Angeles, I participated in several art shows, fundraisers, and holiday boutiques and had studio space at the Hawthorne Arts Complex. I was a member of The Word is Art Gallery from 2013 until 2014 and helped provide social media support for the members. After that I was a member the Ten Women Gallery on Main Street in Santa Monica, CA until 2015 and wrote the monthly newsletter.
Since moving to Columbia, SC in 2016, I have become a member of 701 Center for Contemporary Art (701CCA), Crooked Creek Art League (CCAL) and the SC Watermedia Society (SCWS). In September 2017, I was invited to have a one-person show at Trustus Theater. I have also participated in the 2017 SCWS Digital Show and the CCAL 2018 Juried Show. In addition, my work can be found at Crave Artisan Market, Catitude Cat Café, and Palms to Palmettos in Columbia and at PoDunk Holler in Little Mountain.
