and Artist, Maureen Carter
Maureen's piece, "Roman Courtyard" is a watercolor piece depicting a scene she encountered while traveling in Italy. Maureen's artwork will be on display for the first quarter of 2017.
Maureen has been a member of CCAL since 2013.
Maureen has always enjoyed drawing so 4 years ago she began studying with Anna Kay Singley in Prosperity. While her favorite media is Watercolor, she enjoys experimenting with mixed media and collage and loves creating interesting surfaces with a resulting image that is a combination of abstract and semi-realistic. Her favorite subjects are from her travels, images in nature and recently she has been working on portraiture.
Her work has been juried in to the SC State Fair, the Union County Exhibit, the North Charleston Arts Festival where she won Honorable Mention in 2015, the Prosperity’s Hopping Festival and the Crooked Creek Art Leagues Juried Exhibition where she won a Merit Award and the People Choice in 2015.
She has taken workshops with Gary Spetz in Montana; Gerald Brommer, Judy Morris and Ted Nuttall at Springmaid in Myrtle Beach, and this past summer painted for two weeks with Rose Edin in Ireland. She plans to continue learning and experimenting and is looking forward to a January workshop in New Orleans with Brazilian artist Fabio Cembranelli, followed in February with a workshop by Karlyn Holman in Myrtle Beach.
