Workshop Description (from the instructor)
Collage Landscapes taught by Julie Larkin. This will be an in-person 2-day workshop. On the first day participants will be making their own paper for the collage using acrylics or watercolors. On the second day participants will use their papers to complete the collage landscape.
Day 1
Since Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque first began adding collaged materials to their paintings in 1912, artists have explored the process in countless ways.
Our focus in this workshop will be on building a landscape collage using our own papers and accenting with paint where necessary. Any kind of paper, from thick to thin, can be stained with any kind of Watermedia. The first day the students will be provided with an assortment of different papers and be shown different ways of staining to achieve the effects wanted in their particular landscape. They will learn about different kinds of papers and what each type may be used for. At the end of the day they will have an assortment of papers to set aside to dry overnight.
Day 2
Today we will tear, cut, rip, crinkle and glue our papers into a perfectly beautiful landscape painting. Those who are particularly speedy may be able to accomplish more than one.
Looking forward to spending time and having fun with all off you.
