Artist's Statement
Our mission is to promote thought and encourage those who view these words, take them to heart and be the people that make our world a better place to live and play. Today, we are living in a time of frustration in many facets of our lives. The year 2020 was a year not to be forgotten. It has been a struggle, but a time when our FAITH, no matter which way we choose to worship, our HOPE for a healthier tomorrow as well as our desire for CHARITY will lead to a more peaceful future.
About the Artwork
Originally part of a trio, this grouping now consists of two artistic trail markers including:
Charity: A 5 foot tall post with a flat top (no sailboat mounted on top). This marker has the words: Charity, Imagine, Respect, Prayer.
Faith: A 5 foot tall post with a sailboat mounted on top. This marker has the words: Faith, Joy, Gratitude, Love.
The metal forms, based on the Chapin Town Logo, were created by Steven Reed and Shelly Fugua.
Installed September 2021
Note: The third piece "Hope" is now located at a private residence.
About the Artist
We, Ann Peake and Jean Kirkley, each have been members of the Crooked Creek Art League for 10 + years. We have both held offices on the Board of the League since our second year of membership until the current day! We share the same ideals and aspirations and support for the arts in the community by attending League meetings, local and state workshops and with a constant desire for improvement. We are both winners of multiple awards in the Crooked Creek Juried Shows and the SC State Fair.
