Artist Bio

Lytha Nicholson

I feel so fortunate to have a creative side and to always find an art community of supportive, kind and fun people.  It happened recently here in Chapin.  Being new to the area, I discovered the Art League, Crooked Creek Park and the marvelous pottery studio.  It was time for me to find a new direction. Having been a painter for years, my hands, mind and soul were seeking a new form of expression.  Pottery has become my new focus…. and what fun I am having!

From day one I wanted to do 3-dimensional, whimsical people.  I began with Christmas gifts for my family based on their interests, piano, guitar, photography etc.  After the holidays, I needed a new goal.  My high school group of 14 women meet yearly, so this year I am making “women” again based on their interest…cooking, art, flowers, photography etc.

Lately the need for a new focus turned into Chapin high school sport figures.  I now lay awake at night thinking of ideas for new people. My artistic juices are flowing again!! Thanks to the availability of the pottery studio and the support from the Art League.
